Today, Sunday second December 2007, it is First Advent. We started the day with cleaning up, working on websites (work in other words) and baking cakes and preparing dinner. At 3pm Hallvard, Lauras boyfriend, arrived and we went shortly after for dinner, which is on Sunday always something special. A huge pork steak (shoulder) with gravy, apple sauce, cranberries, potatoes and sprouts. After dinner we went for the flat to work on some stuff such as a showercurtain and a few hooks and towelrack for towels. Also the fridge/freezer was being cleaned and we unpacked a four more boxes. Then we went back to Sandvatn St. for our official First Advents Tea. This is a specialty of well.. not really English, not really German, not Norwegian either, so I guess it's something as a tradition in the family Wood/Ridgway. Laura baked a Dundee cake (Scottish fruitcake), with as I quote Laura, 'a strong taste of butter'. Next to that we had Julebrus, a Norwegian softdrink with the taste of Champagne as they say, but I think it tastes more like Chewing gum (Laura describes it as the drink 'Bing' in England). A big tin of Cadbury's Chocolate cookies (namm). Usually it also goes with English Tea, as the name says, but we were not up for tea today. Tonight Laura and Hallvard take our bedroom that we used last few days in Sandvatn, so Theresa and I will for the first time sleep in the flat! We will report you on that afterwards. Tomorrow we also work a bit on stuff in the flat till 3pm and afterwards we go with friends to Kristiansand for Christmas shopping. More photos of the work in the flat and other photos can be found in our photogallery. |
