This time a very unusual title, I know. It doesn't say much but that are the subjects I am going to talk about. Perhaps I should actually add a keywords system to the blog, than I could just use normal titles and add keywords to the blog haha.
Waps First... the Waps. This is a creature very famous around August in Europe and Norway. It stings you if you hit it and it wants your food. Huh? Isn't that supposed to be the Wasp?, you would probably ask. Yes.. it should. But the Norwegians have this funny thing of making you sound stupid when you have to say the same word in Norwegian language. How do I get to this subject. Well we have been with the cats to the Vet (animal doctor) the past four weeks, every week one cat. One of those times it was for Tiger, who was either stung by a wasp or a snake (Yes, we have nasty snakes in Norway). He got treated well and recovered fully btw, but the funny fact was: the doctor said 'Vesp' instead of Veps! And than he said sorry for that and laughed like a child about it. I thought, HUH?! Funny to see that as a mistake, but I see Veps (waps) as a mistake. What appeared as a joke, seemed to be really a difference in the language!!! Wesp (Dutch) Wasp (English) Wespe (German) Guêpe (French, weird French huh) Avispa (Spanish) Veps (Norwegian) AudioSurfThis is a cool game we just found via fileplanet.com. A demo can be downloaded from the site: http://www.audio-surf.com/ This game is very tetris like, you have to collect colours of blocks (actually vehicles on a road) and several together combined will make your points. Now the unique thing in this game is that you can load in your own mp3 or itunes music and it will generate a track + blocks towards it (by analyzing the music it makes the road bumpy and the blocks are added at the beat for example). The game has unfortunately a limited time to play (hour or less perhaps), but is relatively cheap again to buy 10 dollars (with the dollar being low it's ok). Another thing is that the game is steam powered, connected to the Steam portal, you can make your profile and compare your score against that of others. Cool game to try out! De Blob Another game we found btw is a game called 'De Blob' created by 9 students of the GameDesign hogeschool in Utrecht. The gameconcept has already been bought by THQ which will soon bring the game out for WII. The original PC version can be downloaded for free from the following: NL version EN version Full forum post TabbyAs I mentioned before, all our cats have had their yearly treatment now. Tabby being last in the list. He went this morning. Shat in his cage (awww) because he feared the tunnels, but was perfectly healthy. The doctor called him The Friendly and Hyper A.D.H.D cat. He talks with all the 'customers' and gives them a nice name. Tiger has the name: The Sailor Jenny has the name: The Fine Lady Ginger has the name: The Warrior As we had to wait for half an hour because of an emergency operation (removing a cist from a dogs paw) we got this health check for free. Nice one! Water FountainAs a special treatment and because it saves us some bother, we bought our cats a water fountain. We had seen the fountain earlier this year at Arjan & Martine's place and thought it could be useful for our cats as well. Tabby for example has trouble putting his face in the bowls (because of the whiskers) and often used to use his paw to spoon water out of the bowl into his mouth. The annoying thing of that, is that we always end up in wet floors (he spills it over the floor while taking the water out). Now he can just lick it off the waterfountain (see Animals album pictures). The water does now also get filtered actively and because of the fountain function it will contain more oxygen. Healthier for our cats! The bowl contains 3L of water, saving us some time on refilling it everyday. That's it for the news for today. |
