Another relaxing weekend (apart from the two times three hour drive in snow and sleet) in Setesdal at Hallvard and Laura. Time to let the stress fall away. Let everything go in your brain and in your thoughts. Enjoy Norwegian nature to the fullest and enjoy the accompany of your family and friends.
Looking for a job is a pretty stressy thing. At the moment I am looking mainly for jobs in Norway but I also have a quick look at Holland, Germany and England, as they are feasable options to go to if it doesn't work out in Norway at start. Ofcourse the stress level all depends on how you as a person react to things in life, but generally speaking it causes some stress. First you need to find the right jobs on the market, then you have to apply for them (write brilliant superficial texts about how good you are and how far you will bend down for the company) accompanied with a nice curriculum vitae, sometimes you need to call the contactperson about the job and ask whether you are allowed to apply for it (that step is often before you apply for it anyway) and whether the job is still available (some jobs are advertised for months after the job has been given away to someone). When that is all done, the long wait starts. That is, only for that specific function, because you will have to move on and do the next one. And after a while you will have to call because in most cases the people who receive these applications don't always contact you back about the application (highly annoying). Looking for a job isn't the only thing that keeps us busy. It's also my study (thesis and two reports), daily life and shopping and... a new thing is that Theresa has applied for a study webdesign at an online school (parttime). We keep our hopes high that she will be allowed in. That will help her find a better job on the job market in future. Also she is taking driving lessons for a car driving license which will make sure that she can drive for example when she has a job. Anyway we are currently in Setesdal with family and took our au-pair friend Giovanna with there. We will return tonight to Sandvatn after dinner, as several things will have to be done on monday again (and Giovanna has to work monday again). Hope we will soon make a nice walk in the meters high snow here. We will make ofcourse some pictures and I plan also to upload some existing photos from Laura towards the website. That reminds me to tell you that I have added a few things on the website since the new design is up: a button to bookmark the page to your favourites / favourite social network, a button to add the RSS feed to your favourite RSS reader, Tags on weblogs (in progress, I need to update all blogs with suitable tags), Tags to photo's (visible in the picture who is who or what is what). Im still looking into a better way to visualise it as it is currently, the administration part of all of this behind the scenes and perhaps I want to add categories to weblogs as well, so that I can also sometimes talk about certain technical subjects, while they are not directly visible on the main page. Thanks for all comments that I have received from you previously. Feel free to comment on this story above and especially on the website itself. Wouldn't mind to get some feedback on a more technical level or on a constructive level that helps me make the site even better. |
