House M.D. is a mixture between Sherlock Holmes, E.R. and something else that I cannot define yet. House M.D. is about a hospital somewhere in the USA and at least one doctor (several actually). They solve difficult, sometimes impossible cases of nearly dying people.

It's a must-see if you didn't yet. Gregory House, played by Hugh Laurie (British actor from e.g. Black Adder). Think of that.. a British actor speaking American. That's amazing I think.

I don't watch it because of the blood and gore rating. Neither of seeing people suffer diseases or pain. But I do like the characters in the series. Dr. cuddy, Dr. House and Dr. Wilson as main persisting characters and all other doctors, starting with Dr. Cameron, Dr. Foreman and Dr. Chase and suddenly changing in season 4 to a mixture. Season 5 I didn't even start on yet (and is still airing currently anyway).

It's not only the healing cases that make me happy. It's also the endless conversations between Dr House and Dr Wilson that intrigue me. There is a lot of character building in these series and are thought out by someone with a great head I think (or multiple great thinking people).
But it's not only the people of the story that make it great. It's definitely also the actor(s).

We just finished off Season 3 and will start on 4 soon after a small break for finishing off a study (thesis delivery), fixing a car (APK/EØS) and doing some general business in Holland.
