With that slogan we shall enter spring. The last two weeks The Great Meltdown started... The Great Meltdown not to confuse with a movie title by Pixar or by atomic power installation issues. No, the 1 meter snow in Sandnes was melting all of a sudden. We have now clean roads, here and there a bump of snow on the sides and mostly green fields. Mostly. At the moment of writing I see in the distance a cloud appearing of whiteness. And now it just started to snow like mad. As I said earlier, the wind is ice... and icecold and the sun is nice and warm. The temperature has reached 7 degrees in the plus, but the air is very cold and so we have snow racing down from the right to the left (or from the left to the right depending on at which side you are standing). But that snow won't stay (long). In a week or so summertime will start and also spring is coming. It has also been raining already last week. Luckily for those people in Bergen, because news has reached us that there are huge problems with clean water stock and lot's of stink of sewers (noticed it as well in our bathroom actually). It has been though no doubt the worst winter of times. The last time it was this bad here in Sandnes en Stavanger, was 23-25 years ago. For us it makes no difference. We just work on and whether we drive on ice or clean roads, makes no difference to our car either. We were this weekend in Kvinesdal (because of a dentist appointment saturday in Farsund) and visited our house in Sandvatn. There the snow has also started to melt, but the big difference with Stavanger is that there is still 1 meter snow everywhere. We still had to dig ourselves a path towards the frontdoor. And inside we figured another waterline had sprang, this time in the kitchen. So we still can't use the water there. Everything will be fixed when that snow is gone. Theresa and I have met up with the owners of the three horses that are standing in the fields right behind our house. Theresa was happy to help out if needed and the owners accepted that. One of the horses (mare) is going to have a baby soon and also the owners were having a baby soon, so they did require some help really. And since Theresa had a horse in her past and loves to work with them, she gladly helps them voluntarily. I'm happy to know that that made Theresa very happy. She will be riding with them on monday afternoon. Coming april we will have Stefan from Germany for visit, which we are looking forward to. He comes with a plane to Sola, the kind of flights that come over our house. Also easy to pick up, as it's only a few minutes driving away. So anyone planning a nice trip in wintery, springery or summery Norway is welcome and it's very easy (and cheap) to fly if you are just 1-2 persons. Above 2 persons I would personally take your car and book a boat. (unless you are coming from the UK). |
