Last friday we had a fantastic Julebord (dinner) from Osigraf/AESTON in Kristiansand, the company that I currently do some work for with servers. This dinner we were allowed to come with our partners so we both came nicely clothed to the party, from which we had bought some special clothing in Sandnes the weekend before. We took Helge and Emil with and together we traveled to Kristiansand. The party started 6.30pm in the Osigraf building where we were welcomed by the boss Ove Sindland with a firm hand. Right after we got a surprisingly strange object, a stickable moustache, or på Norsk: Løsbart. This is because Osigraf has a new marketing campaign called: 'Alt er løsbart!' meaning everything can be solved. But it has a double meaning in Norwegian as the Løsbart is also the moustache. After a drink and a talk where we meet up with all employees of all the companies in the Infos Gruppen (AESTON, STAV, KENO, Osigraf, Eggogbacon) we had a presentation of several new things: new employees (I was also invited on the podium, even though my contract doesn't last longer than this year), people who won prices, new products etc. Than was announced that the dinner part of the program would continue in the stadion closeby. So we walked to the Stadium (a soccer stadium) where we were welcomed into the business lounge and there was a full christmas buffet available to us. The buffet was a walk-in buffet, so you took your plate and put all kind of nice small meals on your plate and eat that. Theresa and I were on the table together with Frode and Kjell with wifes and Helge and Emil. We had a great time there. While we were eating it suddenly also started to snow in the middle of the arena, which was nicely enlightened where our table was looking out over. The reason that Osigraf would be able to hire a complete box, became quite fast clear to me: somewhere in the middle was a lot of commercials of Osigraf and Stav, so they were actually sponsoring the soccer club in Kristiansand as well (Start). On the buffet we could choose from several fishy meals such as salmon and salads of fish and wraps with fish. On the meatside there was traditional ribbe (rib steaks) and pinnekjøt (sheepmeat), next to meatcakes and lots of vegetables to choose from. For me the meal seemed to be normal Dutch food, but for the Norwegians that is quite special. There is your cultural difference then. As desert they had rice pudding, caramelpudding, fruity bavarois and special cakes (I think something with carrot, not sure) and brownies, with as side dish cream and icecream. Also available multiple fruits and a forest fruits icecold bowl. During the dinner a cabaret artist made some funny and less funny jokes about working in Osigraf. After the dinner we were invited over to the lounge next door where we could listen to live music from some young lads band that played quite dated music (Beatles etc) and drink the real alcohol (I thought it was so expensive in Norway?!). Anyway we had 2 coupons each so we had some free drinks before we had to start to pay. During the dinner we had free drinks, so it ended up that I had 2 cola for free during the dinner and only one cola after and Theresa one baileys during the dinner and one after. We kept it nice and cheap. Oh and I had to drink cola because I was ofcourse also the taxi driver home for us two and Helge (Kvinesdal) and Emil (Flekkefjord). When we said bye at 1am we took a nice drive home and after driving through Flekkefjord we got stopped by the police who was checking there for alcohol drinkers. That I passed ofcourse no problem with a non-alcohol blow in the machine and we could drive on again. The poor police guy had to stand there in the streaming rain. Funny that, streaming rain in Flekkefjord and lots of snow in Sandvatn. We enjoyed this 'Julebord' a lot and thank Osigraf and AESTON for having the opportunity to enjoy that with them! |
